Aussie Style Chicken Salt

Aussie Style Chicken Salt is our version of this famous Australian seasoning! When researching for the recipe, we found that there so many versions with lots of opinions on what it should contain. Some say add curry powder, some don’t, some use actual chicken stock whereas others use other ingredients to get a chicken like flavour. Some use turmeric to give it a bright yellow colour and others don’t – in other words, we were confused and creatively freed at the same time! With so many ways to go, we could make our own and it wouldn’t be “wrong”!

We have opted to use chicken stock powder for accurate flavour as well as the most common ingredients in the recipes we saw. This does make it unsuitable for vegetarians, unfortunately. We don’t include turmeric as we’re chasing flavour, not colour – we don’t think it matters when you’re seasoning your chips! Just be aware that, even though it is in the “Spice Blends” section, this is basically a salt and you should use it as such. Too much can quickly overpower foods, much like using too much regular table salt. That said, we’re really happy with our Aussie Style Chicken Salt and use it regularly!

Other great seasonings we have include Smoky Chip Salt, Curry Chip Sprinkle, Garnion Chip Seasoning and Piri Piri Chip Seasoning.

Ingredients – Sea Salt, Chicken Stock Powder (Chicken, flavouring, glucose syrup, yeast extract, sugar), Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, MSG, Celery Salt, White Pepper, Paprika, Sugar.
