Aniseeds are the dried seeds of the Pimpinella Anisum plant. These small, brown seeds have a flavour like a slightly spicy, sweet licorice that works well with many foods. Breads, cakes and biscuits will all take on an interesting flavour when you use Aniseeds in the mix. They’re also great for making burgers and sausages or roast meats.
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
