Mexican Chilli Powder Blend is a mix of 3 quintessentially Mexican ingredients that make a great starting point for authentic spicing. Many refer to these three chillies as the Mexican Holy Trinity, although there is conjecture over the chillies that should be in the mix. Some claim that there is no such thing as the Mexican Holy Trinity, but either way, this blend will give you a complex mix of flavours, ideal for Middle American dishes. Our Mexican Chilli Powder Blend uses the following chillies –
Ancho Chilli Powder – Hugely popular in Mexico, this powder comes from the poblano chilli. Fruity, earthy and slightly sweet with low levels of heat.
Pasilla Chilli Powder – Low in heat, but high in flavour. This powder adds some sweetness and a flavour much like raisins.
Guajillo Chilli Powder – Hotter than the other 2 chilli powders, this is about as hot as a Jalapeno. The flavours are tannic and fruity.
