Sour Cream & Black Pepper Seasoning is a great tasting blend that we find goes particularly well with potato base foods. The creamy flavour from the dairy powders forms the main taste, with a little tang from garlic, onion and citric acid. Black pepper cuts through that with that familiar warmth and sharpness, balancing the blend. Much of the inspiration for us making this blend comes from being asked to make a version that a large fast food brand brought out as a limited edition for shaking over fries. After a few batches and some testing at home, this is what we settled on!

Sour Cream & Black Pepper Seasoning, as we mention above is great on fries! If possible, pour the fries into a bag, add the seasoning and shake to coat evenly. The overall amount of salt in the mix is around 15%, so you can be generous with it – in fact, we recommend it to really give a decent covering on the fries. Why not try the seasoning on other things too?! It would work equally well on wedges, waffles and similar foods, but we’ve tried it on chicken wings too and it was great! Try popping some corn and sprinkling a good amount in the bag and shaking it up for loads of extra flavour.

Advise on use

This blend is made with the possible intention of using on chips/ fries that already have salt on them (say from a fast food outlet). If this is the case, use as it is. If using at home, we’d recommend adding some salt to compensate for this. We find that being liberal with it works best, but you can see how you go. If it’s not enough, put the chips back in the bag, add more seasoning and shake some more!
