Panko Breadcrumbs are a traditional ingredient in Japanese cooking that create a crispy coating for chicken, fish and vegetables. Do you love that delicious coating on a cut of Katsu Chicken? That’s thanks to these wonderful breadcrumbs! They have a drier and flakier form than regular breadcrumbs, which absorbs less oil. This allows them to retain their crisp texture after cooking and gives food a satisfying crunch.
For a simple crispy coating, simply dip the chosen food in beaten egg and roll in Panko Breadcrumbs. Usually this would then go into a deep fryer, which will give a great result, but there is no reason you can’t experiment with oven baking or air fryers. You can also sprinkle them onto dishes that you bake, such as a pasta bake or gratin. Why not combine them with our Southern Fried Chicken Seasoning for an extra crispy coating.
