Sambal Oelek from Burning Desiree is a delicious and spicy sauce that makes up the base of many Indonesian, Malaysian and Sri Lankan dishes. It brings a good amount of chilli heat and a great deal of flavour to your foods quickly and easily. Add to seafood, eggs and bean dishes as well as stir fry or noodles. Sambal translates to “sauce” and Oelek is the Dutch spelling of ulek, the stone pestle that they traditionally use to make the sauce.
