Turkish Oregano is slightly more pungent than our other oregano but is perfectly suitable to use interchangeably if need be. This is a wonderfully aromatic herb that is perfect for adding flavour to a great many dishes. Huge areas of the Mediterranean use it in their recipes, but for more authenticity, you can use herb varieties from the local area. Turkish Oregano for Turkish dishes, Mexican Oregano for Mexican dishes etc.
That’s not to say you can’t use it wherever you want! Turkish Oregano goes very well with pizza and pasta dishes, as it pairs perfectly with tomatoes. Use it to compliment egg and meat dishes, poultry and fish and anything in between! It really is a versatile ingredient, and one that we’re sure you’ll find lots of uses for. It is one of the key ingredients in Doner Kebab Seasoning, which is quite delicious!
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
