Cinnamon Sugar is a blend of 75% white cane sugar and 25% Cinnamon/ Cassia mix, making a perfect ingredient for desserts. Cinnamon is already a great match for sweet foods, so adding sugar to it only increases its appeal! You can use it to dust any number of pastries, pies donuts and the like (apple pie with cinnamon is amazing!). After sprinkling on, you can always quickly grill it to make a deliciously crunch topping. Cinnamon Sugar is also great for stirring into porridge or French Toast to pep up your breakfast.
The blend of cassia and cinnamon in the mix does have a specific purpose. Cinnamon is more delicate and sweet in flavour so is great when dusting, but Cassia has a stronger more robust flavour. This makes it great for cooking with, allowing the flavour to come through. The great thing is, if the cinnamon flavour is too strong for what you need, you can always “dilute” it down. Simply mix in more white sugar and stir in well to ensure an even mix then use however you need. Whatever you do with it, Cinnamon Sugar a great spice cupboard ingredient!
