Jalapeno Chilli Flakes come from the dried and chopped pods of a species of Capsicum annuum. Use them as you would normal chilli flakes, to bring heat to foods. These chilli flakes will also impart the flavours of the chilli too. As there is a mix of red and green peppers, you’ll get a grassy “green” flavour, with sweetness coming from the red peppers. This flavour is not only great for cuisines from Middle America; can go into whatever you want!
Jalapeno Chilli Flakes are perfect for adding a mild heat to chilli con carne, tacos, quesadillas and much more. Tex Mex dishes are another great match for the flavours from the chillies too. Add to marinades, spice rubs, and meats such as burgers and sausages to add some extra pep. The blend includes the chilli seeds which some believe is where most of the heat is. It is actually the white pith around the seeds that contains the most heat. We also have Green Jalapeno and Red Jalapeno Chilli Powders, as well as Chipotle Powder and Chipotle Flakes, which are smoked Jalapenos. Yep…. we love these chillies!
The heat from chillies is a subjective thing we find; what some may find too hot, others might find tame. Therefore, you should go easy on chillies, chilli powders and blends with chilli powders in them to find the heat level you like. If you are tasting as you go, you can always add a little more if you need to, but taking heat out is difficult if not impossible.
