Mignonette (Cracked) Black Pepper

Mignonette Black Pepper are the dried, crushed fruits of the Piper nigrum plant. Being in use in cuisines all over the globe, Black pepper really is the king of spices. For a long time, whole peppercorns and ground pepper were available from The Spice Cupboard, but after many requests, we now have Mignonette. The coarse grind (#8) is perfect for steaks and other cuts of meat, and is great if you are cooking quickly and need something quicker than a grinder.

Mignonette Black Pepper is great for making your own spice blends, marinades or rubs. The large particle size will give your foods a bit of crunch and a bit hit of peppery heat and flavour. This grind size is popular in French cooking (hence the name) but there’s no reason you can’t use it with whatever you want. You can even grind it down further in a pestle and mortar if need be. We love to make up a peppercorn sauce to go with a sirloin steak with it. Perfection! Other pepper products we have include Tellicherry Black Peppercorns, Black Peppercorns, Ground Black Pepper, White Peppercorns and Ground White Pepper.

As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
