Paprika Flakes are a great addition to your spice collection and have different uses to paprika powder. Made from peppers in the Capsicum annuum family, paprika is a staple spice for cuisines across the world. These flakes have a subtle earthy flavour with a sweet, peppery flavour. Whereas paprika powder is great for adding colour and flavour to soups, stews, marinades, dressings and more, you can use Paprika Flakes in other ways.
Use as a garnish after cooking to add colour, flavour and interest to your foods. They go very well with eggs, meats, vegetables, shellfish and fish and more. You can of course add to wet dishes like you would a powder, but the flakes will add more texture. Add some to batters or breadcrumbs before cooking for extra flavour, or stir into rice and other pulses for more flavour. Try sprinkling onto roast potatoes before cooking – delicious!
We have a wide range of other paprika’s here at The Spice Cupboard, should you want something else. These include Hungarian Noble Sweet, Hungarian Smoked, Spanish Sweet, Smoked, Hot and 2 paprika pastes from Hungary – Hot and Mild.
The heat from chillies is a subjective thing we find; what some may find too hot, others might find tame. Therefore, you should go easy on chillies, chilli powders and blends with chilli powders in them to find the heat level you like. If you are tasting as you go, you can always add a little more if you need to, but taking heat out is difficult if not impossible.
