Hungarian Noble Sweet Paprika comes from the dry, ground pods of several species of Capsicum annuum. It is thought to be the best example of sweet paprika in the world, and therefore more sought after. It seems to come down to the unique climate in Hungary that gives their paprika a more desirable flavour – sweet but not too hot. The vast majority of paprika on sale in Europe grows commercially in Spain to supply the needs of the continent. Hungarian Noble Sweet Paprika is given the time it needs to grow, mature and dry to give the highest quality possible. While this adds to the cost, many people still prefer to buy Hungarian over Spanish.
Use Hungarian Noble Sweet Paprika to add colour and flavour to your dishes. It pairs very well with roast chicken, rice, vegetables and potato dishes and of course many dishes from Hungary and the surrounding countries. We have other paprikas available, including Hot Oak Smoked Paprika, Smoked Paprika, Hot Paprika, “normal” Paprika and Spanish Sweet Paprika.
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be difficult if not impossible!
