Mulled Wine Spices are perfect for making your own festive drinks at home. The blend of Lemon Peel, Orange Peel, Cassia, Nutmeg, Cloves and Allspice will infuse your drinks with a wonderfully warming flavour. Just the scent alone from this mix is enough to make you think of Christmas, and when you’re using it the house smells amazing!
Add a tablespoon or two of Mulled Wine Spice (depending on how strong you like it) to a bottle of red wine and warm gently in a pan. Pour into mugs through a muslin cloth to remove the blend and enjoy! You can always add a little sugar to give it more sweetness, or use other ingredients alongside it to enhance flavours. This could be anything from slices of orange to whole Star Anise, Cinnamon Sticks and more. If you’re not a fan of red wine (or avoiding alcohol altogether), why not try it with some apple, grape or pomegranate juice?
Other uses for Mulled Wine Spice
Using a muslin cloth, you can infuse the flavours into chutneys, jams, jellies and cordials. Marinades are a good idea too, adding flavour to sauces that goes on pork, gammon and chicken. You can always grind the blend down into a powder and use with many foods to add that festive flavour. Add some to a stuffing to give more flavours or mix with sugar and dust over mince pies.
