Piri Piri Spice Blend brings a fiery heat to your dishes and the authentic flavours of piri piri. A mix of Garlic, Salt, Chilli, Onion, Basil and Cayenne make it great for cooking a range of foods. Chicken is an ideal meat to use with Piri Piri Spice Blend, whether you make a dry rub or wet marinade. You can also use it with other poultry, fish, prawns and homemade burgers too, to give a burst of flavour and heat. You can also use it as a seasoning for potatoes and other vegetables, or alternatively make up your own sauces and dressings.
Piri Piri is a South African staple and its origins seem to come from the Portuguese there. There is debate about whether they first made it in Angola or Mozambique, but wherever it originated, we’re glad it did so!
The heat from chillies is a subjective thing we find; what some may find too hot, others might find tame. Therefore, you should go easy on chillies, chilli powders and blends with chilli powders in them to find the heat level you like. If you are tasting as you go, you can always add a little more if you need to, but taking heat out is difficult if not impossible.
