Sweet Yarl – Apple & Submarine Chilli Hot Sauce

Sweet Yarl is a collaboration sauce between Easton Chilli and Branch Cider. The particular apples they use are full of tannins and bittersweet flavours. These apples make up the basis of their cider, so naturally they would be careful about selection! Easton Chilli use these Yarlington apples, from a 50 year old orchard, as the base for this sauce, too.  By pairing them with submarine chillies, the sauce is absolutely bursting with flavours and a decent chilli kick as well. (Submarine chillies are a unique kind of habanero, by the way!).

Sweet Jarl, being an apple based sauce, pairs superbly with pork as well as other roast meats. Try some with crispy pork belly, Christmas turkey (on the day or cold in the days after), of a vegetarian Wellington. Whatever you do with it, it’ll add a bright, zingy flavour to your food! Easton Chilli started during lockdown as a start up venture in 2020, making great sauces until late 2023. By then, Rikki could not keep up with demand so he started making sauces out of a rented kitchen in Brislington. Today, he has his own purpose built kitchen and is going from strength to strength, making awesome sauces and even offering sauce making classes. After trying a few sauces at the Hot Sauce Society show, we really wanted to bring his sauces to our customers!
