Red Sage is the dried cut leaves of the Salvia officinalis plant, a type of common sage. The flavour is like that of regular sage but with a smoky, almost spicy flavour. This is another great herb for making herbal teas with as, not only will you get a strong flavour, but a big dose of vitamins!
Red Sage is perfect as a direct swap out for regular sage – use it anywhere you would normally use it. It is great with chicken, other poultry and pork. Make up a red sage and onion stuffing for a big whack of flavour with your food! Try baking some into biscuits, bread and scones for extra flavour and house filling aroma. Add to soups, stews or make some sage butter to melt over roast vegetables. Other great herbs we have include regular Sage, Winter Thyme, Savoury, French Tarragon and much more.
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
