Fennel Seeds come from Foeniculum Vulgare, the common fennel plant. They have a warming aniseed like flavour that lends itself nicely to many dishes, including hot and spicy ones. The flavour pairs well with fish, pork and red meats as well as tomato based foods. Fennel Seeds are often used in sausages, stuffings and pickling vinegars, as well as for making herbal teas. You can also use them for baking into bread, biscuits and cakes or anything else you want to add the taste of aniseed to. They will work alongside Dill, Oregano, Parsley, Tarragon and Thyme. We also have Star Anise and Aniseeds that have an aniseed flavour if you think they might be a better fit for your recipe.
