Salted Caramel Sauce is an indulgent treat from master salt purveyors, Halen Môn. Putting salt in caramel is not a new thing, in fact it’s one of the nations favourite sweet flavours. But when you add high quality salt to a high quality caramel, the result is just exquisite! Bring an extra layer of decadence to vanilla ice cream, hot chocolate, apple pie or crumpets with this delicious sauce. Spoon it straight from the jar or warm it gently to drizzle over your desserts.
A few suggestions for using Salted Caramel Sauce straight from the Halen Môn site are –
- Core a few apples and fill with caramel sauce. Add a splash of whisky, cover with foil and bake until the caramel is molten and the apples are soft.
- Spread a thin layer over a sweet biscuit base before topping with chocolate ganache and refrigerating. Sprinkle a little Halen Môn Sea salt on before serving.
- Mix with Greek yoghurt before freezing in ice lolly moulds.
- Toss chopped parsnips in Salted Caramel Sauce and orange for an indulgent winter side dish.
An award winning sauce
Salted Caramel Sauce was awarded 2 stars at the Great taste awards, so you know this is going to be good! Halen Môn produce their sea salt in Anglesey, Wales using hand harvesting techniques. From a salt discovered in a saucepan left to boil dry, it is now one of the worlds most premium salts. It was on the table at the London 2012 Olympics and is part of the menu at the Fat Duck restaurant. Other sweet Halen Môn products we have are Salted Honey Butter and Campfire Salted Caramel.
