Furikake Blend is our take on the Japanese savoury seasoning. It is a mix of Nori Seaweed, Roasted White Sesame Seeds, Roasted Black Sesame Seeds, Nutritional Yeast Flakes and Halen Mon Sea Salt Flakes. We chose to make it a vegan blend to make it suitable for everyone! Many blends you find in recipe books, online and in restaurants use Bonito flakes, which are extremely thin slices of tuna. While these add a huge amount of flavour to the Furikake, it precludes many people that avoid eating fish. Of course, you can add some Bonito to our blend if you want to enhance it some more!
Furikake Blend is perfect for sprinkling over many traditional Japanese dishes (or anything else you want to use it with). The umami flavours will enhance rice dishes wonderfully as well as add a great flavour to fish or vegetables. As well as the savoury flavours, there are different textures from the salt flakes and sesame seeds, and the addition of the colours to the dish will only make it look better too!
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
