Ground cumin, with its strong, earthy, peppery flavour, is a popular spice that is in use all over the world. It brings an aromatic warmth to the cuisines of Mexico, Thailand, India, North Africa, Latin America and the Mediterranean. Use it to add flavour to tagines, stews, curries, soups, falafel and much more. You can sprinkle some onto roast chicken or vegetables, or use it to add interest to rice, cous cous and hummus. Ground Cumin goes very well with other herbs and spices and is perfect for making your own spice blends and rubs. You’ll find it in many our our blends including Balti, Korma and Rogan Josh Curry Powders, Shawarma Spice Blend and the New York, Carolina and Memphis Barbeque Rib Rubs.

Seeds are taken from the Cuminum Cyminum plant, dried and ground into a powder, ready for use. You can find Cumin Seeds on our site by clicking here. It has been in use as a spice for thousands of years, as far back as the 6th millennium BC. Some cultures believe cumin has some medicinal benefits, but as yet there is no scientific evidence so show it.

As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
