Garlic Bread Seasoning is a great blend of herbs, spices and cheese that you can use to make your own garlic bread at home. It consists of Italian Style Hard Cheese Powder, Garlic Granules, Sea Salt, Oregano, Basil, Marjoram and Parsley. To use, simply soften some unsalted butter by standing out of the fridge for a while, or using a microwave. Add a teaspoon or two per 50g of butter, depending how strong you want it – we’d recommend starting with one and seeing how you like it!. Mix well into the butter and ideally leave to stand for 10 minutes or so for the flavours to develop. Plenty of time for the oven to heat up!
Slice a baguette about three quarters the way through, making the bread slices as wide as you want. We find that 50g of butter mix will do about a footlong baguette. Take the garlic butter and use a spoon to place some in each cut, spreading it as best you can inside the bread. Bake at about 180 degrees Celsius for 8-10 minutes, depending on the bread. If it was already very brown and crusty, you can wrap it in foil to stop it drying out too much. Then just enjoy! You can also use Garlic Bread Seasoning with butter on a flat bread and melt some cheese on top of it for an extra treat!
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
