Greek Style seasoning adds a dash of the Mediterranean to your dishes! A wonderful blend of Garlic Granules, Greek Oregano, Onion Granules, Black Pepper and Lemon Peel takes inspiration from the foods of the Greek islands. Although a fairly simple mix, it will add bags of flavour to lamb, chicken or vegetables, cooked using your preferred method. Of course, BBQ and kebab cooking work very well!

Greek Style Seasoning is also great for adding to sauces and the like. Stir some into tzatziki, sour cream or yoghurt (Greek style, not strawberry!) to create you own dip. For extra zinginess, add a squeeze of lemon juice to really get the flavours singing! Why not make up some Greek Style tacos, using this instead of taco seasoning, and swapping the usual cheese for feta.

As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!

Greek Seasoned Roasted Vegetables – By Misty Marie

This recipe is a Build-Your-Own-Adventure!

All of the ingredients can be interchanged based on what is in your refrigerator/cupboard or to your preference, as can the amounts. The following is my favorite combination:

  • 1 small Aubergine
  • 1 Courgette
  • 1 Red Onion
  • 1 small Yellow Pepper
  • 1 punnet Mushrooms (any you like)
  • 1 punnet Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1 bulb Garlic
  • 1 block Feta Cheese
  • 1 small jar Kalamata Olives, pitted
  • Olive Oil
  • ½ cup Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Greek Style Seasoning
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • Salt to taste

Method

1 – Slice vegetables into large bite sized pieces (halve the tomatoes, mushrooms, and garlic cloves but leave olives whole) and place in a deep roasting dish. Drizzle with olive oil, honey, balsamic, Greek seasoning and stir. Bake at 200C Fan for 30 minutes.
2 – Remove from the oven, stir and add crumbled feta all over top. Bake for another 30 minutes and let it stand five minutes before serving.
3- Serve over couscous or orzo with some of the pan juices for a filling meal. Delicious on its own as a side dish. Serve cold as a vegetable salad the following day.

Additional Ingredient Ideas:

Jarred or tinned Artichoke Hearts
Jarred Roasted Red Peppers
Shallots
Chickpeas (drained and rinsed)

* No potatoes or root vegetables as their cook time would be different
