This Jerk Seasoning is a blend of ingredients that will give that delicious Caribbean flavour, while allowing you control over salt levels. It is a mix of Ground Allspice, Thyme, Paprika, Ground Black Pepper, Habanero Chilli Powder, Nutmeg, Ginger, Garlic and Onion. This is an aromatic and spice blend that really packs in the flavours!
Use Jerk Seasoning as a dry rub or mix with a little oil to make a paste. For more zing, use some lemon juice as well (or Lemon Juice Powder) to really increase the flavours. Marinade food for as long as possible before cooking – this is a great seasoning for a barbeque. PLEASE NOTE – This blend has no salt in it, so you can add as little or as much as you want. We recommend adding at least some to really bring out and enhance the flavours of the spices.
The heat from chillies is a subjective thing we find; what some may find too hot, others might find tame. Therefore, you should go easy on chillies, chilli powders and blends with chilli powders in them to find the heat level you like. If you are tasting as you go, you can always add a little more if you need to, but taking heat out is difficult if not impossible.
