Bayou Seasoning is another blend that captures the flavours of Louisiana and the surrounding states. So much good food comes from that area thanks to the melting pot of cultures in the region. The word bayou is from and old Louisiana French word meaning slow moving river, creek or marsh land. Plenty of that all along the coast with the Gulf of Mexico! Anyway, this blend consists of Paprika, Onion Granules, Garlic Granules, Cayenne, White Pepper, Black Pepper, Thyme and Oregano. White pepper can be a divisive spice, but if you love it, there will be plenty love with this blend!
Bayou Seasoning makes a perfect marinade for meat and vegetables. Allow the flavours to develop and infuse for as long as you can before cooking for best results. This would also be great for making your own sauces, either from scratch or adding to an existing one. Flavour soups, stew and much more with ease! PLEASE NOTE – This blend has no salt in it, so you can add as little or as much as you want. We recommend adding at least some to really bring out and enhance the flavours of the spices.
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
