Creole Seasoning is a complex blend of herbs and spices that evoke the flavours of the Southern USA. It is a mix of Paprika, Garlic Granules, Onion Granules, Black Pepper, Aleppo Pepper, Oregano and Thyme. It adds an amazing flavour to anything you use it with – we love it with prawns! You can also use it with fish, meat, poultry and vegetables to get a warming, aromatic flavour.
Use Creole Seasoning as a dry rub or mix with a carrier such as an oil to make a marinade. Leave for at least 15 minutes for the flavours to infuse, but the longer the better. There is a difference between Creole and Cajun flavours and to strip it down to simplicity, creole foods tend to use tomatoes and tomato sauces, and Cajun does not. Oh, there’s far more to it than that, tied up in the complicated history of Louisiana, influences from different regions and preference of flavour between different groups. We just know they both taste great! We do have Cajun Spice Blend if you’d prefer that, as well as Louisiana Barbeque Marinade, Carolina Rib Rub and Chilli Con Carne Spice Blend, should you want an alternative. PLEASE NOTE – This blend has no salt in it, so you can add as little or as much as you want. We recommend adding at least some to really bring out and enhance the flavours of the spices.
As with all herbs and spices, add a little at a time to get the flavour you want. You can always add more, but taking it out again can be impossible!
