Taco Spice Blend – No Salt

Taco Spice Blend is the idea blend for adding lots of flavour to this popular Mexican dish. It consists of a blend of Mexican Chilli Powders, Oak Smoked Paprika, Mexican Oregano, Onion Granules, Garlic Granules, Cumin and Coriander. All these big flavours add up to make a satisfyingly delicious taco filling or whatever else you use it with.

For a quick filling, brown 450g of mince in a pan and add 1 or 2 tablespoons of Taco Spice Blend, depending on how strong you like it. At this point you can season with salt if you want. Add beef (or your favourite) stock up to about half way up the mince and simmer until it starts to thicken. Then simply serve with taco shells and whatever accompaniments you prefer. Lettuce, tomatoes, salsa and cheese are a good start!

PLEASE NOTE – This blend has no salt in it, so you can add as little or as much as you want. We recommend adding at least some to really bring out and enhance the flavours of the spices.

The heat from chillies is a subjective thing we find; what some may find too hot, others might find tame. Therefore, you should go easy on chillies, chilli powders and blends with chilli powders in them to find the heat level you like. If you are tasting as you go, you can always add a little more if you need to, but taking heat out is difficult if not impossible.
