Thai 7 Spice is a fragrant blend of spices that will bring the taste of Thailand to your home. There are also other ingredients that will really bring some authenticity to your dishes. It is a mix of Salt, Coriander, Black Pepper, Mustard Powder, Chilli Powder, Cinnamon, Garlic Powder, Cumin, Ginger, Onion Powder, Cloves, Star Anise, Sunflower/ Rapeseed Oil, Paprika Extract, Lemon Terpenes and Lemon Oil. As you can see, it is a complex blend that brings a spicy, aromatic taste to your food without the need to grind up spices yourself.
A great way to use Thai 7 Spice is to mix it with a little oil to make a marinade for chicken, meat, fish and vegetables. It would also be great for making your own sauces and dips, if you like the flavours. This could be as simple as stirring into yoghurt or mayonnaise if you’re pressed for time. We also have Chinese 5 Spice and Togarashi Spice Blend, which are both well worth a look too.
The heat from chillies is a subjective thing we find; what some may find too hot, others might find tame. Therefore, you should go easy on chillies, chilli powders and blends with chilli powders in them to find the heat level you like. If you are tasting as you go, you can always add a little more if you need to, but taking heat out is difficult if not impossible.
