Coronation Sauce Mix

Coronation Sauce Mix is a blend of herbs and spices that you can use to quickly make up a delicious sauce. It was originally invented to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and it rapidly gained popularity all over the country. Today, you’ll find coronation chicken sandwiches in cafes and delis everywhere. Using this mix is easy, just mix at a ratio of 10% mix to 90% mayonnaise (by weight) cover and leave to develop. This should be at the very least 15 minutes, but as long as possible really (overnight in the fridge is ideal).

Coronation Sauce Mix goes perfectly with chicken, plus all the other usual ingredients of a coronation chicken. These are generally sultanas, apricot and almond slices, but add whatever you like! Of course, you don’t have to use the mix to make sandwiches! Coronation sauce makes a great dip for chips and other potato foods, or anything else you want to dip in it.
